OpenClaw is an experimental open-source hobby project
The bot can read and edit files on your VPS on its own, so even an incorrect prompt can result in unsafe usage.
Because this is an external open-source project, Nominalia does not offer support for VPS with OpenClaw installed.
We recommend using OpenClaw only if you are familiar with the basic concepts of a VPS, such as working in a Linux environment, connecting via SSH, and securing a server.
More information about securing OpenClaw can be found in the official documentation.
OpenClaw is an open-source project for creating a personal AI assistant that can operate autonomously based on the skills you teach the bot. The installed Gateway is a WebSocket server that manages sessions, channels, tools, events, and configurations.
OpenClaw runs locally on its own machine (in this case, a VPS) and can be connected to chat applications like WhatsApp, Slack, or Telegram.
The chat application is connected to the Gateway, which centrally manages all components. After your VPS is provisioned, you'll go through a setup process where you configure the assistant, add LLM API keys, and select the chat application of your choice.
OpenClaw is experimental software. The creator indicates that this is a hobby project and recommends using it only with basic security knowledge. The tool has read-write access to your entire system and can perform tasks independently. Risks arise from incorrect prompting, but also from prompt injection, where malicious actors hide instructions within input sent to the AI model.
