Registration rules for .es domain:
- No requirements
- Number of characters: 3-63 extension excluded; minimum 2 characters for third level domains
- Accepted characters: [a - z], [0- 9], and [-]. However, these characters cannot appear as the first or last character of the domain name
- The domain name cannot with "xn--"
Why choose a .es domain?
.ES domains mostly identify people and organizations that are somehow related to Spain. Internet domain names ending with an .ES space are perceived as familiar by Spanish Internet users, a domain extension being a fundamental feature of the identity of these services.
Who is eligable to register a .ES domain name?
- Individual, legal or non juridical people related to Spain can register either .ES and/or .com.es name domains.
- Either individual or legal people related to Spain can register .NOM.ES domain names.
- Not for profit organizations, institutions or groups either with or without juridical people somehow related to Spain can register .org.es name domains.
What names CANNOT be registered?
- Names which fit in with any first level domain (as .edu, .com, .gov, .mil, .uk, .fr, .ar, .jp)
- Names known as Internet terms Names of international and supranational organizations, of constitutional bodies and of Spanish State institutions
- Names of places which fit in with the official denomination of region civil service and have not been previously registred
- Names starting the xn-- extension
- Names starting or ending with a hyphen (-)
